I purchased the one year warranty for my iPod touch 1st generation, and after about 6 months it would no longer connect or charge unless held to the cable with rubber bands. So I send off my ipod to apple and they tell me that they won't repair it under warranty because of water damage, and they had the guts to tell me that they could repair it for $229! Now I travel around the Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Texas coast areas for work and I reach some humid areas but I've never had another electronic device utterly fail just from humidity. The ipod never touched water except what was in the air. DO NOT BUY!

Memory

I purchased this as an anniversary present for my Macbook Pro 15" (Intel). I purchased the laptop about a year ago but did not upgrade the memory, since Apple has no clue how cheap memory is in the real world and over charge for the upgrade.

Pro:
1. It was cheaper than through Apple. Apple puts a premium on upgrades when you customize laptops. This was a lot better price.
2. Easy to install. It took me less than 15 minutes to install and get the Macbook Pro to recognize it.
3. Twice the speed than I had before. You know how it is; computers are never as fast as we would like them to be. (I remember 128MB memory PCs, and I am referring to 2GB as "slower"). I can't say I'm blown away by the speed yet. I am confident that it is twice as fast and that I have maximized my memory. I'll wait for my next large Excel spreadsheet to see if there is something tangible I can point to.

Con:
1. None so far for the hardware itself.
2. Apple does not support it, so I have heard. I am keeping the ones that came with my laptop in case I have to get the laptop serviced. I will swap the old ones back in if I need to get the laptop serviced by Apple.

This product is definitely worth the purchase. While it is unknown whether I will need it or not, there is one thing I have realized when it comes to Apple. Their products are super expensive, especially to get them fixed. However, you DO get what you pay for in reliable products. I have been using my MacbookPro for over a year now with no sluggishness or hesitation. I don't for-see myself having any issues with it in the coming year or two however if I do, I will know that with this product, it will be taken care of for free and quick with helpful and courteous customer service reps.

The service of Amazon in getting this item to me was faster than I expected and it is exactly what I knew it would be. The package was unblemished and the code worked without any problems. Two thumbs way up from me. Thanks again, Amazon! You have never let me down.

I was looking for an external keyboard to compliment my '06 15" MBP I have setup with an external display. The external display was so large typing on the laptop keyboard put me way too close to the screen and in an uncomfortable position. This keyboard and separate mouse allowed me to sit back comfortably and use my laptop more as a desktop computer when not on the road.

Build quality, design and all the rest is on par with what you would expect from an apple product. It's definitely the best external keyboard I've ever used and its small size allows me to really maximize desk space and work more efficiently. But all is not perfect. My main gripe comes from the lack of support for the basic functions that are built into my laptop keyboard. Functions such as volume, brightness and the number pad that can be activated with numlock or by holding the 'fn' (function) key. Considering this is an apple keyboard made for apple computers I find it ridiculous that I have to rely on a 3rd party application to provide some but not all of the basic functionality found on the built in keyboard. The media keys are hopeless using Tiger but KeyRemap4MacBook allowed me to set my F1-F5 keys to their original functions as found on the laptop keyboard. I was also able to get the number pad working again which I was quite pleased with.

I expected better from apple and I'm disappointed I had to rely on an outside source for basic usability. I still can't imagine why they removed the 'fn' numpad option. It's a great feature and allows users like me to have full numpad control when I occasionally need it without having to buy the larger keyboard or an external device. I've noticed the new laptops are also missing this basic function that you can find on just about any garbage laptop. Really makes you wonder what's going on over at 1 Infinite Loop. The keyboard is so good, to fail on the software level in a closed system designed entirely by one company is mind boggling.

Anyway, the build quality and mechanics are very good but the support sucks. I would have written a more negative review had Takayama Fumihiko not built KeyRemap4MacBook. His software has turned one of my biggest disappointments with apple hardware into a minor inconvenience.

Read ALL the reviews - you get what you pay for! It looks like junk and trust me please, it IS junk. I used the home outlet charger ONCE and it charged my 2nd Gen iPod quickly, but then I went to remove it from the outlet. One of the prongs broke off IN my outlet! Luckily there was enough metal sticking out that, once I shut off the breaker, I was able to pull out the metal prong. I've yet to use the car charger, but you can imagine how much faith I have in its repeated use... AVOID!

4 stars because the video port and the jack on this product are not very tight together and if you move your macbook around as much as i do, the cord will constantly fall out and disrupt the screen... But if you're computer is stationary then you will be good to go!

I am a runner and was delighted to receive this ipod 3G as a gift. However, after runnning with it a few times the headset controls locked up. The cover is very diffult to remove once it is snapped on. I scratched my brand new iPod trying to remove it. I couldn't activate my iPod in this case cover with an exercise arm band (which is the reason I needed to remove it from the case - therefore scratching my iPod in the process).

It is definetely only worth the couple bucks - very cheap. There is a waist belt clip on the protective cover but it doesn't work for exercise.

First of all the product arrived in record time!
I immediately went about downloading my music then I ran out of space and it was then I realized that the memory capacity seem to be less than 1GB and additionally much of the space was taken up with something called other files. After googling I discovered that by restoring the ipod it would free up the space... had to do it twice which meant loading the music again. Hence the 4 stars. But alll in all I'm happy with this ipod it's so easy to carry and perfect for walking/jogging and the . I'll be needing a 4GB soon!

I love apple and I will keep apple products even though this adapter creates quite a problem. I didn't know, until I replaced mine, how common the problem was. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty so even if I have to replace it every year, apple will do it for free the first 3 years.

But it puzzles me why they can't create a better adaptor, especially at this price. Which is why I gave it two stars: high price and will only last about 1 year. But, you don't have any other choices right now so you have to just bight the bullet or leave apple macbooks alone.

If you purchase from amazon you will get a genuine apple adaptor, i can't say the same from any storefront--I always treat them as buyer beware.

This thing is a breeze to setup, I wanted a dual band router that would just work. And everything that i've bought from apple has so i thought i would give this one a try.
I'm the first guy to hack something, or tweak something or tinker with something and this router still appeases me. There isnt a browser setup utility, you should know that going in. There have been a lot of bad reviews on the router because of that but that just means you didn't do your homework.
It's attractive, easy, it just works and it's fast.
My last router was a good one but just wasn't fast enough to stream movies over my network like i wanted. The airport extreme handles it no problem. The guest network is really a plus, that way you setup your devices, hide the SSID, and never have to worry about getting your friends online when they come over. Just give them the guest network password that has limited access.
I would recommend this router to anyone it's been great.
I never give products 5 stars unless it's just the best thing ever nothing is perfect.

I was introduced to the iPod Touch/iPhone interface last summer when the iPhone 3G was released. My wife purchased and iPhone with a new cell phone contract through AT&T and I had my chance to play around with the device. The little I did play with it I absolutely enjoyed.

For the longest time, I've had multiple media devices all for doing different functions. Every time I would travel over night, I'd have to pack my:

- iPod Video for music and movies.
- Sony PSP for games.
- Blackberry Curve for my email.
- Laptop for internet access.

What a hassle. Last month I figured that I had had enough of the multiple-device life and sold my PSP and gave a family member my iPod Video. I used the money from the Sony PSP to purchase the iPod Touch 16 GB. And I've never regretted the decision.

For Gaming:
I'm not a huge gamer, but I do like to "button mash" a decent platformer or play some video poker when I'm sitting in a hotel room or on a plane. With the Sony PSP (or even the Nintendo DS in this case), any time I wanted to play a new game, I'd have to get in my car, drive to a game or retail store, purchase a disc, take it home, insert it and play the game. With the iPod Touch, I simply need a network connection, I surf the App store, I pay for whichever game I'd like to play, it downloads and automatically installs onto the device. Once I've beaten the game, I can erase it off the device and install it at a later time should I decide to play again. Goodbye Sony DMDs. And the game variety is surprisingly ample and of decent quality.

A few games that I have found to be exceptional:
- Hero of Sparta
- Firemint's Real Racing
- Gameloft's Assasin's Creed
- The New York Time's Crossword Puzzles.
- Rolando
- 2XL Games Supercross

For Other Media:
Obviously playing music isn't an issue on the iPod Touch. The sound quality is good, and I like the multiple viewing options available for viewing albums. Video is also much better than on the iPod Video. The screen is brighter, larger and more crisp.

I'm also a big fan of the Amazon Kindle software for the iPod Touch. Granted that I would not like to read an entire book on the small LCD iPod screen, it's sufficient enough to read a few chapters of whatever novel I'm reading in between meetings or on lunch break.

I also highly recommend:
- Apple Software's Remote
- Air Mouse

The Good:
- Apple's App Store.
- The screen (clean, clear and crisp).
- WiFi enabled.
- Slim and portable form factor.

The Bad:
- The battery (seems to not work as long as advertised).
- No GPS functionality (although Google Maps is sufficient).
- No Bluetooth.

The Ugly:
- Nothing.

All in all, the iPod Touch exceeds my expectations. The release of the 3.0 OS will be a nice addition (regardless of the cost to iPod Touch users). Boy, for an all inclusive package, Apple has done a phenomenal job.

As an illustrator, for years I've felt the pressure to give in and buy a Mac. All artists have Macs, right? It's designed for creative professionals, right?

Well, as I discovered once I did give in and finally bought this one, the answer is yes and no.

My primary objection to Macs in general still stands, and it is this: I don't like computers telling me what to do. I don't like hearing my computer cry, "Excuse me. Safari needs your attention," or whatever it's saying in that garbled, electronic voice. It drives me crazy.

The other problem we had, which we have since fixed, is that we installed an addition GB of RAM, which was causing the computer to crash constantly. The RAM was approved by Apple, and we took the computer to the Apple Store for repair twice to no avail. Only when the additional memory was removed did the problem stop, but we would still like to have a faster computer.

Another thing I hate about the Mac is how much programs cost. I love CorelDraw,for example, and I see no point in switching to PhotoShop, which in my opinion gives you less and costs at least twice as much.

And finally there can be compatibility issues if you're trying to work with something designed for a Windows PC, like a Word document. Of course, these problems can be fixed by buying more programs, which will cost you more money. It would actually cost less to buy an additional, cheap Windows PC to do things the Mac doesn't.

But there are many great features to this computer, namely Garage Band, iWeb (with a subscription to Mobile Me, formerly .mac), iMovie HD, and all the other great programs that are a part of iLife. Right now my husband and I are working on creating an audio-book, and we are using our Mac for that. I would also like to use the Mac for creating a web presence for our company, but unfortunately I can't figure out how to insert keywords in iWeb, which basically makes it useless if you want search engines to be able to find your site.

In short, this is a wonderful computer for very specific uses, although it might cost you a lot more in programs than a PC, and you might still want a PC for everyday tasks.

This Mac Mini (MB138LL) is a tad slow compared newer ones. If you do lots of youtube videos or lots of pictures you WILL need more speed and more hard drive space. It took a bit of time to render pictures when you open several at the same time. Something I've not noticed on any other newer macs.

If you purchase the USB mac keyboard (MB869LL) the USB ports on the underside of the keyboard won't work with this mini. The USB bus power is to low. That plan sucks if you want a convenient place to plug your iPod or mp3 player in.

If you use your computer for work and not just typing resumes or checking email... I would strongly recommend spending the extra cash on either the MB463LL or the MB464LL Mac Mini.

If your looking for a great bargain monitor to go with the Mini (any of the mini models) try the Hanns G Hi-221DPB. Looks amazing for the price.

Overall not a bad little machine for a "lite" computer user.

As an illustrator, for years I've felt the pressure to give in and buy a Mac. All artists have Macs, right? It's designed for creative professionals, right?

Well, as I discovered once I did give in and finally bought this one, the answer is yes and no.

My primary objection to Macs in general still stands, and it is this: I don't like computers telling me what to do. I don't like hearing my computer cry, "Excuse me. Safari needs your attention," or whatever it's saying in that garbled, electronic voice. It drives me crazy.

The other problem we had, which we have since fixed, is that we installed an addition GB of RAM, which was causing the computer to crash constantly. The RAM was approved by Apple, and we took the computer to the Apple Store for repair twice to no avail. Only when the additional memory was removed did the problem stop, but we would still like to have a faster computer.

Another thing I hate about the Mac is how much programs cost. I love CorelDraw,for example, and I see no point in switching to PhotoShop, which in my opinion gives you less and costs at least twice as much.

And finally there can be compatibility issues if you're trying to work with something designed for a Windows PC, like a Word document. Of course, these problems can be fixed by buying more programs, which will cost you more money. It would actually cost less to buy an additional, cheap Windows PC to do things the Mac doesn't.

But there are many great features to this computer, namely Garage Band, iWeb (with a subscription to Mobile Me, formerly .mac), iMovie HD, and all the other great programs that are a part of iLife. Right now my husband and I are working on creating an audio-book, and we are using our Mac for that. I would also like to use the Mac for creating a web presence for our company, but unfortunately I can't figure out how to insert keywords in iWeb, which basically makes it useless if you want search engines to be able to find your site.

In short, this is a wonderful computer for very specific uses, although it might cost you a lot more in programs than a PC, and you might still want a PC for everyday tasks.

I've had my 24" iMac Extreme for a year now and have to say that Apple has outdone themselves. The big 24" display is a joy and quickly spoils you if you have to work on smaller screens. I've increased the RAM to 4GB and this makes a huge difference in the work I do, mostly Powerpoint and Photoshop. I often forget that this thing can chug along with Photoshop, Powerpoint, iMovie, Safari, Entourage and iChat running simultaneously. I have two 500GB external hard drives, one to take care of TimeMachine and the other to archive photos.

I've been a rabid mac owner since 1984 (still have my original and one of the first sold in US, Mac 128 machines -it still works and has never darkened the door of a service department! ) How many IBMs are still out there from this era in operating condition??? Macs are a quality, extremely well integrated, stable platform. They are not for everybody and we will never see Apple dominate the market (except for mp3 players) for the same reason you don't see BMWs and Mercedes sitting in every driveway. Macs are a cut above and will always be the driver and innovator in this industry. If you want the best, if you want stability, if you want perfect harmony between software and hardware, if you want to live/compute virus and spyware-free--- GET A MAC! And if you just HAVE to run a Windoz program, no problemo, Macs run Windoz better and faster than PCs do! Macs also have a little trick up their sleeve that PCs can't perform- it's called Firewire Target Disk Mode. Say you want to transfer large amounts of data/files from your notebook to your desktop or vice-versa. Just connect the two machines with a firewire cable, start up the target machine while holding down the "T" key and on the host machine, the target machine's hard drive pops up on the desktop. It's then an easy and very fast process to drag and drop files between machines. This is not doable on any PC. At work I'm forced to use a Dell so I'm well acquainted with Windows XP and find it very user unfriendly and prone to virus attacks. PCs keeps our IT guy very busy. We have quite a few Macs too, but they almost never need IT support to keep them productive. Any computer company that can build a machine that can run for 24 years, without breaking down, sitting in a repair shop, or locking up is doing things right.

This is a rather long review and if you are not a big time firewire drive user I have made a brief synopses of this review in the first two paragraphs. Note that this computer was purchased the first of January 2009. I have delayed writing this review to give Apple every chance to come clean about the FW problem.

The three star rating is primarily due to the inability of apple to deliver on its promise of reliable FW 800 performance on the MacPro or the Macbook computers and their lack of responsiveness when confronted with an actual user that wants and needs to mount many FW disks.

The other contributor to the 3 star rating has to do with the speed of the MacPro. While Photoshop and Lightroom are much more responsive than my MacMini (1.5 GHz G4), I would expect an 8 core (2 x 2.8 GHz Intel Xenon) to literally blow the doors off the MacMini. The other applications that I use are also faster, but not dramatically so.

I purchased this high performance MacPro Tower because my MacMini and Macbook Pro 15 were beginning to show signs that the large digital photo files that I work with were a little too much, particularly on the MacMini. The MacMini is an earlier G4 model. Also, Photoshop CS4 is optimized for Intel. I also use Adobe Lightroom to manage my large database of digital photographs, currently approaching 40,000 files.

Since I do not trust hard drives and I am disinclined to spend hours creating DVD archive disks, I maintain many, many firewire drives to archive and backup my photographic library. I copy each CF card that I use when shooting photographs to no less than 4 separate hard drives before deleting the files from the cards. I use Lexar Professional CF cards exclusively.

As FW 800 drives came available I have been buying the triple interface Maxtor III drives expecting to use them in FW 800 mode when I finally upgraded my MacMini with a new tower computer. I have 12 of these drives including 2 500 GB, 6 300 GB, and 4 2 TB devices. I have been using these drives without problem on my MacMini as I purchased them without issues. Of course the initial drive of that chain had to attach through the FW 400 port of the MacMini because the G4 MacMini does not have a FW 800 port.

When the MacPro came in I naturally wanted to move these drives to the MacPro and leave the FW 400 drives attached to the MacMini. I have another 16 or so FW 400 drives that I have acquired over the last several years.

Unfortunately, the FW 800 implementation seems to be flawed. If I try to mount several FW 800 drives, at some point, the FW 800 chain appears to get `confused' and the drives spontaneously unmount. This means that I cannot mount all of my drives at the same time. Typically I can only mount 5 or 6 drives before I experience problems. Worse still, I have experienced file corruption when copying photo files from either my FW 400 or my FW 800 CF card reader. I have since spoken with another photographer (another long time Mac user) and he said that he had the same problem with trying to mount multiple drives. His work-around is to only use one FW 800 drive at a time.

In addition to the FW 800 problem, the FW 400 ports also seem to have problems with using multiple drives simultaneously. On my MacMini and on my Macbook Pro I have mounted nearly every drive that I own (more than 30 firewire drives) using the FW 400 port. The FW 800 drives are connected with each other via the FW 800 ports and with the rest of the chain via a FW 400 port on the triple interface drives. This is how the drives were used prior to the MacPro purchase.

Interestingly, when I tried to mount several FW 800 drives to the Macbook Pro; it too would lose the chain at some point.

I called apple support a couple of times concerning this problem. The techs on the phone suggested zapping the pram, etc., which I did to no avail. The last call was escalated to a higher level in the support and was subsequently turned over to the hardware folks. I was assured I would receive a telephone call and an email with some information concerning the Firewire problem, but after a week I had no futher response. Fortunately, I had sent some screen shots to the tech at apple, so I had an email address. When I emailed a reminder, he finally sent (forwarded) the email that he received from the hardware folks.

To make a long story short, apple blew me off saying that there was something wrong with my drives, etc. I replied that I wanted information concerning the FW 800 testing that apple did to verify that FW 800 could mount 63 drives, since I couldn't get it to mount 6 drives reliably. All I received in reply was silence.

I spent many, many hours testing the MacPro, the MacMini, and the Macbook using various combinations of FW drives, FW card readers and USB 2.0 card readers. I worked on this problem on a regular basis for nearly 3 months. I offered apple to be a beta tester for their FW issues since I do have so many devices and apparently, apple has never tested their own interface to anywhere close to its limits.

I also had to abandon using the FW card readers and revert to the USB 2.0 reader to eliminate corrupted files during transfer to the MacPro computer. Furthermore, I now only use the MacPro internal drives (4) and one (at-a-time) FW 800 drives for my photography. The digital archiving with the addition copies had to return to the MacMini.

The other contributor to the 3 star rating has to do with the speed of the MacPro. I have been a Macintosh user since the 512k Fat Mac. I have evolved through the LC, the IIci, S900 (clone), iMac, Power Mac G4, Powerbook, and finally the MacMini on the AIM chips to the Intel based Macbook and Mac Pro. In all these prior computers, I have never had a problem with apple or their computers till now. I have also used Intel PCs and Sun workstations at work (reluctantly in the case of the Windows PCs.). I am not an apple basher nor a PC basher, but at this point, I could not recommend a Macintosh computer to anyone that required a lot of drive space that needed to be online. I have in excess of 15 TB of FW storage that I cannot safely use with my most recent computer.

So, if you like apple hardware and you don't stress the firewire ports, this is a good machine. If you have a large investment in firewire drives, I would recommend that you keep what you have. Since most PCs don't come with firewire ports that would mean: Keep your old Mac and bug apple to get the bugs out of firewire 800. I understand that the new Macbooks don't come with FW 400 ports, so I would be careful there, as well.

I've had the router almost a year. I use it with a Nintendo Wii, Macbook and several other devices including a G1 phone, Sony PSP, Ipod Touch and several non Mac computers. The router has NEVER, repeat NEVER needed a reboot. It runs in mixed mode to support N/B/G wireless connections and is FAST. There are VERY few configuration settings that you need to tweak, which was almost disappointing at first, but very typical of Apple. Like most products from Cupertino, it is as close to plug and play as a router can get. The router's connection works throughout the house, basement and guest house as well as when sitting in a car parked on the street. On a typical night, this router is handling World of Warcraft, a movie on Hulu, surfing on the G1 and god only knows what else on the rest of the devices all at the same time, flawlessly.

I will admit that the shipping was prompt and the computer was packed very nicely.
However, the mouse was broken (wouldn't react to anything whether I clicked it or moved my finger along the touch pad) and the laptop itself was covered with grime.
I hate leaving bad reviews, and maybe it was a one time thing, but really consider all the options you have before you buy from them. The product won't always be as it's described.

I have owned 3 previous Macbooks, and the last one I owned before this one was the the 17in Macbook Pro which was an impressive machine, with an impressive weight. After owning it for a few months I noticed that I would get home and my back would be in agony from carrying so much weight around dally. I decided that was enough was enough, and I went down and I purchased my Macbook Air the day it came out.

The Macbook Air is extremely light, thin and pretty sturdy. My back-pain at the end of the day is gone and in fact I constantly forget I have it on my back... one of the only problems I have had with its size is finding a backpack that doesn't weight more than the air itself (I ended up going with the Buzz by Tom Bihn).

I have edited THOUSANDS of photos in photoshop, put together movies with iMovie and Final Cut Express, written short stories , watched movies with EyeTV and have done pretty much anything I did on my Macbook Pro. That being said, it is a less powerful machine so I will sometimes see freezes, most which occur in Safari (which I no longer use).

I have dropped it, thrown it on my couch, and carried it to 3 countries and 7 states. I seriously cannot understand people who are breaking these.. as I havent treated my exactly well, but I do understand it is a portable computer which are all delicate pieces of machinery.

People invariably ask me questions about it when they see my in public, one is "Dont you miss your DVD drive?" And my answer is always no. I have the USB drive to install programs requiring a DVD, which I have needed maybe 5 times total. People wonder how I can watch movies, and you know.. I no longer own any DVDs... I ONLY watch digital movies now.. whats the point of wasting space in my house with DVDs I may watch once or twice. The other question people ask is about the air only having one USB port. Yes, this has been a bit annoying a few times (Especially since the Air has a disabled USB port turned off inside of it), but I have gotten around this by carrying a tiny USB splitter, and have needed to use that maybe 3 times total.

I have to admit however that I also have a full MacPro, which I keep all of my files on and that the Macbook Air is my portable office. I move everything that I have on it over the desktop when I am home, and am not sure I would be able to survive with only an 80 GB drive, but as I have 2 terabytes of data, I am sure you would understand why.

If you are interested in buying this machine I would suggest staying away from solid state drives for now, as they are more expensive for the size and the failure rate appears to be higher than normal hard drives. However, I LOVE my Air.

If you are on the fence, I would suggest getting it! But as with any Apple, I would also get an extra year of Apple Care. Ive only needed it once in the last 10 or so years, but it saved my life (and about 30,000 photos).

It was a big step to switch from my PC to an apple. 1.5 years later I am so glad I did I will never go back. And then my experience got even better. My computer power cord broke. I called apple care. they diagnosed the problem over the phone. I had a same day appointment to get a replacement. And, while I was at the appointment I expressed a concern about a couple of the keys on the keypad not feeling right. They tested it. They didn't notice it. But, they wanted to make sure I was totally happy so they replaced my entire keyboard--free (under apple care warranty). Wow, I've had PC's break in the past and it was always a NIGHTMARE to diagnose/fix. Like I said, I was already happy with MAC but after having used my Apple Care I can say I am more delighted than ever. I thanked the customer service person for helping me and she said, "no, thank you for allowing me to help you". Never heard that before.

Pages does have a very nice intuitive interface, as with most Apple products. And I suppose the main advantage of Pages is that you can do layout and word processing in one application. But for those interested more specifically in word processing - especially long documents, with many headers and subheaders, indexes, etc. - Pages is not yet optimal.

The main problem with Pages in my view is the lack of a "Document Map" feature. When working with long documents that have a lot of subheadings, Pages becomes clumsy to use. You have to work directly within the Outline view, collapsing and expanding sections. But this entails realigning the text, so you often end up navigating up and down through several pages to find the place where you had been working.

Another significant problem is that it does not export perfectly into Word. For example, when you save your Pages document as a Word file and then open it in Word, the Document Map feature in Word will not parse the document correctly. The result is that once you have converted a document to Pages format, it's pretty hard to convert it back into Word format.

I've read so many different reviews on this mouse, and it seems like everyone is having the same problem with that damn scroll ball!!!!! I work for a web design company on a Mac, and I've got to suffer with this thing Apple calls "Mighty". The 4-way scroll (or 360 degree scroll, whatever it is that they're calling it) is a really nice feature at first, and I was cruising through pages as happy as can be. Then, about 2 months after I started using it, I noticed that the scroll-down direction wasn't working as well as it should for being only 2 months old. As a result, I'm constantly flicking the ball left, right, up and down in order to try to get it working again to no avail. It's extremely tempermental -- some days, my flicking technique works like a charm. Other days, it just irritates me to no end. You can bet that I will definitely be investing my money in a new mouse, one that has the same 4-way scroll technology, but is NOT made by Apple! I expect a lot better from them! Anyone who has owned a Blackberry and ended up with the same sort of frustration with the track ball will more than likely encounter the same problems with this mouse. Do not buy unless you plan on buying a new mouse within a few weeks!

The Apple Airport Express is, as you might expect from an Apple product, straightforward and rather simple. I'll just jump to how this affected me, and how it will PROBABLY affect you (if you are in need of something like this). I moved into a dorm where I couldn't use a lot of the technology I'd bought (ex. Apple remote on iPod Touch) because my University doesn't support wireless Internet inside the residence halls. So here's the good things about this product:

[+] You can use wifi devices in areas that do not have wifi connection (Ethernet, etc) because the Airport Express creates a network for you.
[+] You can print wirelessly, which is cooler than it sounds. Great for clearing up desk space, which leads me into:
[+] AirTunes. You can play iTunes music wirelessly, eliminating the need for your speakers being plugged into your computer's headphone jack.
[+] Both PC & Mac compatible
[+] Up to 10 people (including yourself) can hop onto your network - which you can password protect - and print using your printer. My roommate and I struck up a deal - he bought paper and he printed over my connection.

And of course, to be fair, I'll point out some minor drawbacks I encountered:

[-] Sound only comes through the AirPort Express through AirTunes. If you'd like other sounds (YouTube, any other media player, etc.) to come out of the wireless speaker setup, you can't. This should be changed.
[-] Other people connected to the network can play music through AirTunes, which can be surprisingly obnoxious (or just surprising). I believe there may be a setting to turn off AirTunes but I'm not sure.

Overall, it's a nifty little box for a decent price tag. Of course, if you pay $80 or so more, you can get an AirPort Extreme. Or if you need backup storage with Time Machine, Apple's Time Capsule has all the features of the Airport Express in it (minues AirTunes & wireless printing). If you're looking for something light, pretty cheap, and a great, easy way to make wireless out of wired, Apple's Airport Express is your best choice.

Who decided that putting all the input ports on the back of the computer monitor was a good idea? If you have your computer facing a corner or a wall, you have to drag it out of the corner every time you want to plug in. The apple software works well, but it limits your ability to control the software and it makes decisions for you that you may not want. I have worked in computers for over thirty years and have worked in professional recording and movie production and Mac is useful there, but in day to day routine stuff, you are better off sinking money into the best PC you can afford, and operate on a Linux, or even XP format. Most people get frustrated with their PCs because of wait times. The problem is, that if buy the cheapest product, you get poor results. It's like using a wood mallet to hammer in a nail.

After years of nursing and worrying about my DEll, I love the confidence a Mac provides. I am not constantly running anti-virus and malware programs. The Mini Mac fires up instantly and I get to what I want (email and product reviews). The FACES program in Iphoto is great. The program searches all photos and sorts by individuals. I bought the lowest level mini Mac and am not disappointed. It is perfect for what I do with a computer. The ability to upgrade ram and add an external hard drive may be utilized in the future, For now I am very pleased. The price is reasonable for what you get. I was fortunate to be able to use my Dell monitor and wireless keyboard. The unit is very compact and and so quiet you need to check the led on the front to make sure it is on. Very happy with my MINI .

With that said...

This is a fine computer for older people or people who just want to check email, browse the web, and tool around with some pictures/home videos.

This Mac Mini (MB138LL) is a tad slow compared newer ones. If you do lots of youtube videos or lots of pictures you WILL need more speed and more hard drive space. It took a bit of time to render pictures when you open several at the same time. Something I've not noticed on any other newer macs.

If you purchase the USB mac keyboard (MB869LL) the USB ports on the underside of the keyboard won't work with this mini. The USB bus power is to low. That plan sucks if you want a convenient place to plug your iPod or mp3 player in.

If you use your computer for work and not just typing resumes or checking email... I would strongly recommend spending the extra cash on either the MB463LL or the MB464LL Mac Mini.

If your looking for a great bargain monitor to go with the Mini (any of the mini models) try the Hanns G Hi-221DPB. Looks amazing for the price.

Overall not a bad little machine for a "lite" computer user.

Apple Keyboard Kit

I bought the extended keyboard to replace the standard keyboard that comes with the new iMacs. Both keyboards utilize the same design of the key switches and have the same feel. However, the extended keyboard has dedicated Page-up, Page down keys in addition to the numeric keypad.

Having used a variety of different Mac and PC keyboards, I really like this new design of the keys. The new keys don't depress nearly as far having a shorter and lighter travel, feeling closer to what you'd get on a Mac laptop. However, the short throw design is easy to get used to and it is possible to type very quickly with high accuracy and most importantly, low effort.

I find the keyboard very quiet and comfortable.

I have been a PC user for a number of years and recently decided to get a Mac after seeing so many people out and about with them and talking to those people about their experiences. Everything I heard was true. This is a fantastic machine and very powerful, especially for the price. The software selection is excellent and, thanks to open source stuff, mostly free. I've also found a lot of "Mac-only" stuff from smaller developers which has really helped me with productivity.

If you use an iPhone or iPod, this is the machine it was made to work with. Integration is seamless.

For under $1000, this is a great system. It took me only about 30 minutes to get it up and running, and that includes the time it took to get it out of the box. You turn it on and it asks you a few questions. The rest of the things it needs to know, like your online connection, are taken care of automatically. It really is amazing.

I got a Macbook to try it out, at first it was ok despite the lack of software, games and open source I was using on Vista. I always wondered why hardcore mac fanboys would honestly belive mac's don't get viruses, well they were in shock after I showed them my infected macbook. My 7 year old was using the macbook (he uses them at school and is very familiar with them I made him a parental controlled account to use on my macbook) he managed to contract a trojan according to the virus scanner. Also the safari start page was locked into some webpage I never heard of and I could not change it back or get rid of it...(malware anyone.) Safari I was suprized to find out Safari tied Firefox as the slowest of browsers (im talking about real test results not Apple's fabricated ones) and that it is the only browser with no anti-phishing filter! So your data is available to the world due to MAc's very easily hackable code (mac fell first in recent hack tests took about 60 seconds.) Performance wise it was pretty good. The Vista systems I have still very much out performed the macbook and OSX, and Vista had thee capatability and software I wanted rather then what Apple lets you use so Im sticking with Windows. The Macbook crashed (before and after) the Trojan and malware I replaced it with a custom Dell XPS which is the fastest, most powerful, secure, beautiful looking laptop I have ever set eyes on and everything works right out of the box and everything works with it. Sorry Apple but the lies need to stop becasue your setting all mac users past, present and furure up for dissapointment by telling them such lies all the time. Mac's never crash, never get viruses....you better have some huge balls to back up making such stupid, untrue statements Apple becasue when people buy your products and they fail or get viruses etc like any computer or product after Apple saying theirs wont they will loose respect and creditability for their company amoung the users like myself. A 600 PC can out perform any OSX machine due to the simple fact of capatability, games, software and availability. Plus: yes macs can run windows....they can run it yes, but try playing games on windows installed on a mac...you CAN"T!!! due to the overpriced crapple specific hardware. The Apple ad should say: Windows now runs on a Mac, now you can play Minesweeper....nothing else just Minesweeper. Those are the facts friends, im only trying to let potential buyers know, don't think your safe with a Mac, your not. Plus a switch from Windows to Mac is not an easy one, say goodbye to to capatability, games, software you want and say hello to application hunting to try and run things you need from when you used Windows. You can't use mac word processors for work either becasue unless your employer has a mac (which they wont) they wont be able to view your files because Iwork etc are mac exclusive formats....make sence?..nope. Those are the facts. Make your choice, just don't buy a mac because they look nice, or some idiot tells you "they just work" investigate what your buying before you shell out a bag of coin to Apple thinking you have bought a computer fit for god....you haven't you've been duped by the king of seedy salesmen Mr. Steve jobs.

This is my first MacBook. I have been saving and calculating a lot since the last few weeks (since I decided it's TIME to buy one...done with the waiting), but unfortunately could get to only the 13.3" version of MacBook according to my budget. I'm glad I didn't mess around with generic cables this time like I did in the past. Too often the third party cheap cables break easily, don't connect right, or the wires break inside the cable so you have to keep playing with the cable to get a connection.

This wasn't cheap but it works perfectly, it's easy to connect, and solidly built. There's a tiny logo on the ipod end to let you know which way to plug in the cable which save a lot of frustration. It stays in firmly, comes out easily.

Windows Vista was the last straw so I went Mac hunting. I bought a MacBook Pro last May after using windows systems for years and years. Total frustrated by windows lack of processing simple jobs with out locking up and having to ctrl-alt-del or completely restart. The MacBook Pro was a little more than I wanted to spend, but after hours of convincing my wife I made the switch to Mac. It has been the best computer I have ever owned!
It is flawless in booting up and being ready to go.
Easy compatibility with my digital camera I did not even need to install the Kodak software iPhoto reads the pictures just fine and away we go. IMovie makes it just as easy take your video and edit and make really cool movies out of what you have shot on camera or camcorders. The word processing with pages works very well and there are other great free open source word processing programs for Mac like open office.
From ITunes to being able to bluetooth my Cel phone and quickly get all my contacts off address book has been great. My wife has been so impressed she now has a Macbook and we have a Mac mini at home.
Every area of the MacBook Pro has exceeded my expectations.

After deciding not to splurge the $900 for the new 24" display, I decided to purchase this existing 20" display and pair it w/ my mbp. I personally prefer the solid aluminum styling over the black bezzeled frame. I know Apple is eventually replacing this monitor, however, after test driving the 24", I visually didn't see a difference between the 2 displays. Furthermore, the review on this display has been satisfactory at best, and for $900, I need a display with a solid reputation. It would have been nice for Apple to update this display during the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2008. 1680 x 1050 display resolution could be a bit higher at this price, then again, very few displays compare with this one. Highly recommend to pair w/ current or previous gen mbp.

I purchased the Apple aluminum keyboard for my Macbook. I found that I was constantly making mistakes and found it difficult to type on the keyboard. The keys did not feel right and my hands were frequently not aligning on the keys correctly. I also have a PC sharing a common monitor. So I ended up with two keyboards,switching back and forth when I changed computers.
I bought the Macally key board and have found it to be a much better feeling keyboard that has significantly reduced the errors when I type. It has a very solid feel making typing easy.

It has the second bonus that it also works with my PC, allowing me to automatically convert to the correct function keys depending on the computer, using the MAC command and control keys on my Macbook, as well as the Option keys with my PC. This is a quality product and the price is very reasonable at about $30 I would recommend it.

I purchased this carrying case for my hp 14 inch notebook.

The case does the job, it fits the notbook comfotably,length wise, has a nice soft feel inside and good protecton, but i just feel that if you dont have a Mac then it doesnt fit 100%, i am not sure how it would fit with a mac, but with mine there is a little bit of extra room on top of the laptop.

However if you are interested in this product, go for it, I got it very cheap and dont see how it is any diffeerent to the neropeone cases which I found to be at least $10 more expensive.

The 2 things I find a pain about all of these sleeves, is that they have no carrying belt, or handle and that there is no place to fit a charger.(but this applies to ALL of these kinds of bags.) however some of them today do have these 2 additions, and I would rather go for those, if
I were to purchase again.

Just do a google and you'll see the life of this adapter is about a year. Way too many incidents out there. My first adapter lasted exactly one year. One day I was charging my macbook and I started to smell wires burning. It turned out to be the wire from this adapter, specifically where it attaches to the macbook. The key is not to put *any* stress on the wire at all by letting it bend. Apparently the plastic wire is so cheaply made that it will wear out and expose the inner wires to each other. Luckily my macbook was not damaged, and I was there to unplug the adapter when it started to smolder. While I love the smart magnetic design, it's made quite shoddy. Of course the price is very high also at $79!?! Ridiculous for plastic and cheap wiring! When I went to the Apple store to replace my adapter, there was a 3 week wait as well! I was lucky to find one on eb*y for just under $36.

My best advice is not to put any tension on this wire because it obviously can't handle it, and I'd avoid leaving it charging alone simply because I don't trust it and I've googled quite a few horror stories. Check out the apple store and you'll see all the reviews about sparks, smoke, melting , and fire.

Currently, I'm on my 3rd adapter in 3 years. The current version I bought on ebay and it's re-enforced at the weak spot I mentioned. This version seems to be the best. Check out the photo I posted, and you'll notice that the end that connects to the macbook pro is different, with a bigger plastic shell.

While this newer version is square and more compact, photos indicate that it's still got the same old weak end.

This speakers are an excellent value. They deliver great sound. The trebles are clear and the base is great. I would strongly recommend this product to anybody. I purchased the Logitech 2300z first and they had a muffled sound and too much base. The Soundsticks is a much better product. The only complaint is they have a blue light in the base unit that can not be turned off. You have to unplug them to be able to keep the light off.
